It's Official. I'm a Crime Fiction Author.

I was 8 years old when I wrote my first story. I took a third-grade assignment way too far. We were given 40 minutes or so to write a ghost story. I think it was around Halloween. I had so much fun writing my terrible little tale about my friends and I skulking around a haunted house, I kept going. At home that night, I added illustrations. Then I tried to paste cardboard pages on the front and back to make it feel more like a book. Pages kept falling out. So I covered the cardboard with a big sheet of purple construction paper and sewed the book together. My dad, an advertising graphic artist, had stick-on letters that I, um, "borrowed" to spell out the oh-so-original title in gold, Haunted House On The Hill.

I've wanted to be an author ever since.

Some people laughed at me. Others encouraged me. I attended workshops. I sought out mentors. The closest people to me cheered me on during the good times and helped scrape my ego off the floor when things didn't go quite as well.

My first fiction credit, a cyber crime caper, is now available. It's on Amazon now, available from your local book store on April 6.

Check out the Interviews & Appearances page for events near you to join me in celebrating.
